1 1/2 cups sugar 2/3 can (5 fluid ounce can) evaporated milk 2 Tbls butter 1/4 tsp salt 2 cups mini marshmallows (4 ounces) 1 1/2 cup (9 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional) 1 tsp vanilla
Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil. (Note - if using one of those paper disposable kind of pans that can go in the oven, still use the foil, because when you try to get it out of the paper pan it sticks - makes for an ugly presentation or gift)
Combine sugar, milk, butter and salt in a medium heavy duty saucepan. Bring to a full boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue to boil, stirring constantly 4 - 5 minutes
Remove from heat.
Stir in marshmallows, morsels, nuts and vanilla. Stir vigorously for 1 minute or until the marshmallows are melted.
Pour into a prepared pan. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Left from pan, remove foil and cut into 48 pieces.
